What crap luck this morning. We are in Rome! Rome! Blessed with children that have come to Rome to be with us and explore the city – a once in a lifetime happy happy occurrence and I get the stomach flu!! Or food poisoning!! Or Covid!! Or whatever the hell this is!!! I am destined to spend the day in the apartment but booted the rest out the door to explore the Vatican and see whatever else they could see and eat as much gelato as they could!! It was pouring rain outside so it was a good morning for them to be inside the Vatican Museums.
Our guide at the Colosseum yesterday shared with us, that as beautiful as Roma historic centre is, be sure to escape and get to a real Roman neighbourhood for a few hours and a good meal away from tourists. So that’s today….Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Basilica and St. Peter’s Square in the morning and then off to Testaccio and the market for the afternoon.
The sun came out and they all loved Tesstaccio and the market and had a great meal and pastries there. After coming home to check on Mama – who was doing okay but not tour-ready yet – we convinced Heather and Brad to go meandering and find a nice supper. Hopefully tomorrow – we will be 4 strong again!
